Good Friends of Wilmington – 2025 Gather & Give FAQ

Neighbors helping neighbors since 1996

Who We Are
Good Friends of Wilmington is a volunteer-led nonprofit with no CEO, no office, and one part-time admin. For nearly 30 years, women from across our community have come together each December for our annual fundraising luncheon—raising funds to meet urgent needs for individuals and families in crisis.

How We Work
Good Friends of Wilmington responds when neighbors have nowhere else to turn. Referrals come from social workers, teachers, medical providers, nonprofits, and faith leaders. We help to bridge financial gaps that threaten housing, safety, and stability—such as rent to prevent eviction, utilities to keep families safe at home, or transportation to get to work. Every decision is made thoughtfully, compassionately, and quickly – often within 12 – 48 hours.

Our Impact
Since our founding, Good Friends of Wilmington has distributed more than $1.6 million locally. Each year, we grant in excess of $70,000 to families and individuals in crisis.

2025 Gather & Give Luncheon
Each December, hundreds of women gather to give—coming together in generosity to lift up neighbors in need. The Gather & Give Luncheon is our signature annual fundraiser and a cherished Wilmington tradition. Guests are invited to host tables of eight and bring friends to share in the spirit of giving.
